The Conductor of the Orchestra Doesn’t Play

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Yesterday…I went to a concert. It was a real classic. I mean, it was a classical orchestra with violins, cellos…In fact there appeared to be four groups of instruments;

  • Strings, with violins, violas, cellos and double basses
  • Wood-winds, with flutes, clarinets and bassoons
  • Brass, with French horns and trumpets
  • And Percussion

As it was late and I was tired, the instruments changed before my eyes and before I new it I was back to work. Wondering about this new solution we were working at. A question came to my mind;

What kind of problems do you “need” in order to implement workflow management?

The sound of the violins faded away. The French horn took over.

We had many application. Too many. And this was only the beginning of a long period in which we would have much more. Our company was growing and new activities demanded new teams and systems. In the mean time the existing systems where still profitable.

There was this problem however. At the front office, clients could be helped all the way. The agent needed to check some information he couldn’t control. It was outside his reach. It became apparent that all the different parts of the organization were playing their own music.

“If I was a client,” I thought, “Would I hear one and the same concerto, the way I do now, listening to this orchestra?”

How could we arrange our business that it appears an orchestra when listening from the client side?

“Life inside an organization would probably conduct itself less easily,” I reckoned, “but something in the area of a conducting (this complex orchestra) might very well be part of the solution.”

How to Drive Visitors to Your Website

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

First, here is some interesting market research of
my own. The header “I goofed . . .” was the most
viewed Newsletter out of All our Newsletters issued
in the last 45 days.
Interesting . . .
I read somewhere this header title substantially increases
views and, I just proved it to myself. You just have to take
my word for it. Use this header title sparingly otherwise it
becomes ineffective.
Now on to today’s business, driving visitors to your website.
You may recall, in a previous Article, titled “Two Schools of
Thought”, there where some strong arguments that Keyword
Markeing and Search Engine Marketing were the only way to go,
hile the other argument stated that targeted email marketing
was better.
Better relative to what?

The SEO argument stated that pay
per click, PPC, keyword marketing brought the customer right
to your website door waiting, with their wallet in their hand,
to buy your products and services. After all, THEY SEARCHED
for YOU.
The other side states that you went looking for customers
with effective, well written, professional email campaigns to
a targeted market of willing buyers. To “close” your sale you
have to SELL.
Since email marketing accounts for (54%) of website traffic
driven to a website, according to the Direct Marketing
Association, it makes sense to use email marketing as a primary
marketing strategy, combined with KEYWORD marketing as well.
Right?
That would cover ALL bases.
More about Keyword marketing in a future artic;e. A member
in a downline and I are each running different campaigns.
I have keyword marketing, she has email marketing. We will
compare notes and report back to you.
Therefore, be professional, be creative, be legal, and
above all don’t scream at me. Over the course of one day,
I receive hundreds of emails daily. Most are the worst form
of advertising I have ever seen.
They do not include the following:

1. a signature similar to mine at the end of each email

2. an EASY TO USE optout statement to prevent SPAM complaints

3. a message, with well thought out content, to make it
believable and worth my time, (and yours) to read.

IMPORTANT email TIPS:

Three seconds and 40 characters, that’s all you have to promote
your product or service.

Email marketing powerhouse DoubleClick.com conducts annual
surveys with regard to user behavior when it comes to email.

A couple of the statistics from their latest findings are
interesting. The second biggest motivator in opening email
is the subject line.(The first is the “from” line.)
Because subject lines are often shortened to around 40
characters and because email readers usually have their
index fingers poised over the delete button — we’re left
with about three seconds and approximately six words to
make an impression. So what works? Make An Offer, State A Benefit, Evoke

Curiosity
Double Click also reported that the average open rate
was 27.5% (for text or HTML messages). That gives you
a baseline to gauge your success. Testing is vital. And
it’s easy enough to do. You can also test your subject
lines by sending your emails to a smaller test list before
broadcasting it to the entire group. The information above
is from SEO Bulletin – Wed, 05 Oct 2005 08:44:24 -0700
Use targeted prospects. Talk about hitting a BULLS-EYE!
Hit a BULLS-EYE all the time everytime. Market with both
quality email campaigns snd Keyword Search Engine Marketing
Happy marketing.

How Online Surveys Can Make You Money?

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Have you heard of the websites that offer payment in lieu of taking online surveys? Yes this is true. Anyone who has recently browsed the avenues of work-at-home jobs must have seen such alluring ads. It must have made you wonder how online surveys can make you money. I am here to explain you all that. So, keep reading.

In fact, the online surveys include the whole process that claims to help people to earn money. For that, first you need to register with the website and then file out for consumer surveys. Whether you can earn money out of them or not, is altogether a different story.

The Internet these days is full of such websites that offer to pay their visitors for filling the surveys. As you register on the website, they ask you to fill out a questionnaire that lists your individual “consumer preferences” and “interests”. Once you are through with it, you will be requested to wait till they make contact with you for the apt survey.

Do companies actually pay money to know your favorite brand of dog biscuits or how much time you spend viewing a particular television programme? According to the grapevine however, the money doesn’t come to you always. The company that seeks for consumer information will directly pay the survey company
, who will pile up the survey details and statistics. A very little amount out of it, if it is any thing, is transferred to the persons who had filled out the online surveys.

If you seriously want to make money through online surveys, you really need to invest your time and money to search for the companies who actually pay money. The legitimate online surveys from genuine companies take quite a long time. They make you think and then give valid answers to fill out the form. The companies do advertise boastfully, but most of them actually end up not paying.

There will also be some companies who will offer you points for incurring their online surveys. You can save up these points for the exchange of money. Imagine the little mouse of your computer could be worth more than 500 points! But the reality of the situation is also that you may get just two to three points per survey.

Some companies enter the survey fillers in a drawing after they complete the survey. The chances of anyone winning these drawings enough number of times or earning part time or full time income are actually very slim. If you will spend your worthy hours filling the online surveys and get a little sum of money as compensation, do you think it is fair?

In your search for the genuine companies, beware of those companies who may require you to give money to get a list of the online survey websites who really pay. If any website asks you for money to let you take online surveys, it can instantly be considered as a scam. You must avoid such sites at all the costs.

Online surveys can get you fun and money both but only when they are genuine. If you consider the online surveys as a source of good income or employment, honey better get a career switch!

Home Fitness Exercise Equipment – Shifting The Weight With Weights

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

A vast array of home fitness exercise equipment is at your disposal, clamoring for the number one spot as far as benefits to you are concerned.

You need to be a wide-awake consumer. Let common sense be your guide. There is no easy, overnight road to fitness. Svelte and sweating unfortunately go hand in hand!

However, by choosing home fitness exercise equipment that works for you, losing the extra pounds and gaining toned muscle-power, can be fun and enjoyable. An added benefit is the self-confidence boost it generates.

When choosing home fitness exercise equipment, you need to concentrate on the three s-areas: strength training for muscle toning, stretching for flexibility, and sprinting or a related activity for cardiovascular fitness.

To give your heart a good workout, an upright or recumbent cycle, treadmill, stepper, or an elliptical cross-trainer is ideal. Quality home fitness exercise equipment often feature a heart rate monitor, to enable you to be as effective as possible in your exercise routine. Distance travelled, and calories burned may also be measured to give you a complete picture of your progress.

Do you enjoy running or walking, but are often tempted to use the weather, the neighbour’s dog, potholes, or any of a dozen other factors as absolutely valid reasons to skip your run? Trim the number of ready-made excuses by about 95% by including a treadmill in your home fitness exercise equipment arsenal!

Good rubber or polymer cushions under the deck offers cushioning for your feet and knees – a comfort you will not easily find on hard road surfaces! Make sure that the treadmill features the right kind of incline running for you. To ensure durability and safety, always buy from a reputable company that offers good backing – this applies to any home fitness exercise equipment.

An upright or recumbent cycle is a good option if you are looking for low-impact cardiovascular home fitness exercise equipment. This is also the recommendation for someone with a knee-injury. A recumbent model may be more suitable if you are experiencing lower back problems.

An elliptical cross-trainer is the all-in-one version of the treadmill, stepper, and cycle. As far as low-impact exercise goes, this is one of the best options. Electronic adjustable resistance ensures non-stop exercising. You want to monitor your progress, so look for indicators of speed, time, distance, pulse rate, and calories burned in any home fitness exercise equipment.

Strength training is extremely important. The human body loses muscle mass with age. To retain mobility and strength, it is vital to work on this aspect. By using home fitness exercise equipment to increase muscle mass, metabolism is also increased. A revved-up metabolism makes it easier to shake off those stubborn extra pounds, or helps to prevent weight gain.

Strength training doesn’t have to be expensive. Free weights are easy to use, and resistance bands are inexpensive, but very effective. By adding an exercise ball to the equation, you improve your balance as well.

If you can afford it, a gym system will give your home fitness exercise equipment all the advantages of going to a health center, without the inconvenience. Some of these even allow multiple users to be active at the same time.

Weider offers quality home fitness exercise equipment with the promise of trouble-free use for many years. The Advantage gym system or the superb Max has everything you need for a complete workout in the comfort of your home.

You will be whipped into shape with 65 club-quality exercises. The variety will keep you entertained and motivated, and the eye-pleasing results will soon have you strutting your stuff on the beach! The systems include a lat tower, leg developer, and rowing seat. Women can use these home fitness exercise equipment systems with confidence, knowing that they will develop the lean, toned look they desire.

Stretching is important before and after every workout. It is vital to prevent injuries. Flexibility encourages good posture, and in the process prevents or improves back problems.

People often assume that ageing equals joint and muscle stiffness. This doesn’t have to be the case! Home fitness exercise equipment helps you to maintain good health, and maximizes vitality and mobility. Most often stiffness is the result of disuse. Yoga bands or fitness bands, and a good stretching program will keep you supple, irrespective of your age.

Well-known companies such as Reebok offer a variety of other tools and props to help you to gain the most from your home fitness exercise equipment. An exercise ball strengthens the core muscles, improves balance, and increases the effectiveness of many exercises.

An old-fashioned jump rope is still a great piece of equipment. Use smaller wrist and ankle weights to improve the effectiveness of any activity. A wireless heart rate monitor is useful if your home fitness exercise equipment doesn’t include this.

If you go away on a business trip, or on holiday, you don’t have to disrupt your exercise program or hunt around for a gym. An inexpensive option is portable home fitness exercise equipment. These gym kits usually include resistance tubes, handles, ankle straps, a door attachment, jump rope, hand grip and a handy tote bag.

Using home fitness exercise equipment can be a fun-filled family experience. Your example also helps to instill good habits in your children, which translates into an immeasurable investment in their future well-being.

Go for it!

Spam eMails Are Not Just Annoying – They Are A Main Distributor Of Viruses

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Why is someone from India, Africa, or elsewhere writing you for information about your bank account with shady promises of depositing thousands of dollars within? (Many, many people have fallen for this real scam.) It’s costing us ALL money – more on this in a bit.

Listen – if all you want is to be rid of the daily chore of sorting through scams and filth to find emails from friends, family, and co-workers… you are definitely NOT asking for too much. There is a way to stop greedy Spammers from finding their way to your inbox. There is a way to stop Spam dead in its tracks.

All you need to do is educate yourself on the dangers of Spam – followed up by some real solutions to the problem.

Did You Know that Spammers Often Find Your Email Address Because Of Something YOU’VE Done?” Most people make it too easy for them without realizing it.

Computers have become an integral part of life for nearly everyone in the world. Ever since the induction of the internet, they have become very common place in most businesses and homes. Most people cannot even imagine their lives without their computers. They are used to run businesses, keep track of inventory, gather information, and to communicate with people from great distances.

Naturally one of the most popular reasons that people use the internet is to send emails to others. It is a free and easy way to talk to people that live far away. You can use emails to send letters, data files, and pictures. Everybody likes to get an email from their friends and family. However, emails have also become a popular tool that is used to advertise products and services.

As much as we like to receive emails from those that we enjoy hearing from, nobody likes to receive emails from people we’ve never heard of. These emails are called spam. We know how annoying it can be to receive spam in your email everyday and here are some tips to prevent them reaching your In Box: Email Filters – they can work very hard to keep your inbox from receiving spam, they can also prevent you getting a lot of your wanted emails as well. Visit and check www.spamarrest.com they have a very good method of identifying inbound mail between spam and real email. I am using their service myself and I happy with it. Avoid accidentally sending spam to your friends and family.

You should never open an unsolicited email that you receive in your inbox nor click on the “un-subscribe” link, it is a big mistake if you do that because you will be opt-in to their evil list. You have to understand that spammers are really just playing a numbers game. They simply send out like a million emails and hope that at least a third of them stick. It’s sad but it’s true. Good day everyone.

Dog Fences: The Key to Happy Neighbors

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Dogs are one of the most popular pet in the United States today. We spend lots of money on them, pamper them and are very devoted to our four legged “children.” Dogs require a high level of responsibility, they need to be fed, walked and taken to the vet. Dogs also need to be kept safe and taught to be good neighbors.

The easiest way for a loving dog owner to keep their precious pet safe is to install a dog fence. There are several types of fences available on the market today, these fences act as a barrier, keeping your pet inside your yard. Chain link and privacy fences are the more traditional choices for keeping dogs (as well as children) safely in their yards. Pet safe invisible fences, also known as wireless fences are gaining in popularity with many dog owners.

There are advantages and disadvantages to traditional well as to the newer style of dog fences. Traditional chain link and wooden privacy fences offer a physical barrier to keep your dog in your yard and other animals or people out. These fences can be expensive to install and the wooden ones will need regular maintenance to keep looking good. In addition, many, many dogs learn to either dig under or climb over a traditional fence.

The newer wireless pet containment systems, also known as invisible fences also have advantages and disadvantages associated with them. This type of dog fence offers the owner a system that keeps the pet in the yard, but doesn’t keep out other animals or people, which could leave your pet vulnerable. These fences can also be expensive to install, but they don’t “break up” the look of any landscaping. This is especially important with homeowners associations restricting the use of traditional style fences. One big disadvantage to an invisible fence is that if the wire gets broken, there is nothing to keep your dog in its yard, except its training. It is very important when using this type of fence to train your dog properly and keep up on regular maintenance; this is will ensure that if a break occurs, it can be fixed as soon as possible.

Another very pressing issue for dog owners is the fact that dogs bark. Some dogs only bark when necessary, other dogs bark at absolutely everything. This is more of an issue if you live in a neighborhood where people are more likely to complain, or if you leave your dog outside for long periods of time.

There are many reasons that will make a dog bark, other animals, people or the want to come in the house. It is important to teach your dog as a puppy a command to stop barking. By teaching a puppy this type of command, the issue of barking can be better controlled, although not completely eradicated.

If the reason for the dog bark is boredom, or the want to come in the house, the installation of a dog door can virtually eliminate the barking. Dog door come in an array of styles and prices. They range from a standard hole cut in a door covered with plastic, to a more high tech version such as the automatic dog door. This dog door works in conjunction with a transmitter that is placed on the dogs’ collar, allowing only your dog to enter your house.

As pet owners we want the best for our companion, the use of a dog fence and perhaps even a dog door will allow our pets and ourselves to live in harmony (most of the time) with our neighbors and friends.

Linda Moore writes on a variety of subjects including home ownership, family matters, personal enrichment, Dog doors n fencing and hair removal treatments

Shop for Bed Sheets with Confidence

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Shopping for bed sheets has become a difficult prospect for many of us. There are just so many choices to make regarding materials, thread counts, and more. Not long ago, I was having tea with a friend and we were discussing this shopping dilemma. She shared a number of tips and ideas with me, and I am now going to share them with you. Listen up!

The first thing you must know is what size of sheet you are shopping for. This may sound silly, but I have had to return my new sheets to the store on a few different occasions. If only I had thought to double-check the size of each bed before I went shopping!

Experts recommend that you measure the length, width, and height of your mattress before you shop. This may sound extreme, but with so many mattress types on the market it may not be a bad idea. I had to return the last set of sheets I bought because they didn’t fit the new pillow-top mattress I had purchased the week prior.

The next thing to consider is what feel you would like your sheets to have. Do you like smooth, pressed cotton? Do you prefer the slippery feeling of silk or satin? Or do you prefer the warmth and comfort of flannel sheets? I usually buy simple cotton sheets for our family beds. They are easy to clean and maintain, and I can usually pick them up at a very fair price. And I never buy sheets with a thread count of less than 280.

The last thing you might want to consider is the type of laundering your sheets will need. Last year, I bought a set of sheets that I felt were perfect. They fit well, and they were wonderful to the touch. The problem was that they needed to be dry cleaned, and by the time I discovered this it was too late. I put them through the washer and dryer and when I took them out they looked like they would barely fit a single bed, much less my massive queen size mattress!

These are just a few points to consider when purchasing new bedding. The other things, I feel, are a matter of taste. I have a preference for solid colored bedding, but there are many wonderful patterned sheets out there. Whatever you preferences may be, please keep these ideas in mind. Now get out there and shop, shop, shop!
