A man who pursues his dreams with indefatigable resolve, risk and sweat, Naveen Jain was given the prestigious 2006 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The said award acknowledges exceptional entrepreneurs who are creating and managing vibrant and rising businesses.

A native of India, Naveen Jain migrated to America through a business exchange program. He got hired at the Microsoft Corporation in 1989 and became a senior executive later on. In 1996, he founded InfoSpace, a firm that distributes real-world information on the Internet and on any device. In 2003, he again created another company, Intelius. Intelius began as an online information service provider that supplies intelligence on people, court records, property assets, and addresses. The company has progressed to employee background checks, neighborhood watch, and identity theft protection.

Jain participates in philanthropic activities. He launched a scholarship for qualified computer, science and engineering freshman at the University of Washington. He sponsored the Uphaar 2008, an annual dinner for the benefit of Child Rights and You (CRY) America Action Center, a top advocate for abused, neglected, and under-educated children. He gave generous contributions to many other causes such as the Indian American Education Foundation, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Tree House, Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, Youthcare, Rotary Club and Hopelink, among others.

Other awards and honors were given to Naveen Jain for his numerous achievements. He has been named one of the Top 20 Entrepreneurs by Red Herring and one of the Six People Who Will Change the Net by Information Week. He was also given the Albert Einstein Technology Medal.

Jain’s success could also be witnessed when Intellius won the Stevie Award for Best New Company, the CODiE Award finalist for Best Online Consumer Service, and a 2007 Stevie Award finalist for Most Innovative Company.
